Art Stamps & Mixed Media Ink Sprays

Hello, Kirsten here again. This time I'd like to show you the cards I made with my
Mixed Media Ink Sprayed backgrounds & a few of the new Art Stamps........

The cards are all very simple, as I just wanted to see what the Art Stamp images looked like.

This is the Dahlia AS, stamped with embossing ink & heat embossed with white EP. The background is Blue & Orange MM ink sprays..............

The Beach Huts AS stamped with Onyx Black Versafine & heat set with clear EP. The background is Orange, Yellow & Green MM ink sprays...................

The very cute Fox Cubs AS, as with the Beach Huts on a background of Light Purple & Light Blue MM ink sprays.............

The Baby Owls AS on a background of Red, Yellow & Orange MM ink sprays with a little Distress Ink through the Leaf Swirl stencil on the card blank..........

I realised with these last three cards that my Versafine ink pad needs replacing, but I like the patchy effect. The background colour showing through the black is very effective.

I can safely say that I'm looking forward to a lot more playing with both the Mixed Media Ink Sprays & the Art Stamps. There are so many techniques I want to try, so watch this space. I'll try to be back with more projects over the weekend.

Updates & Ink Sprays

Hello everyone, hope you're well. Kirsten here with an update of what's been happening in Imagination Land recently.

April 9 saw us at Alexandra Palace in London for the Crafting at Ally Pally show. Sue demoed for most of the day on the BJ Crafts stand, alongside Jean of BJ. Lisa B was there too & it was great to meet so many lovely crafters.

Anji got a quick Sparkle Medium tutorial from Sue................

In the afternoon Sue did an hour long programme for Hochanda. Here she is with Leonie Pujol, preparing to record their intro link.............

A view from the back of the audience during Sue's show. She worked with Matt for the first time & they had great fun...........

It was the last live broadcast of the day, so of course, something had to go wrong. :) And that something was Sue's microphone dying. If you saw the show you'll know there was much hilarity as one of the crew tried to replace her battery pack without being seen on screen & all the time, Sue just tried to carry on................. :)

It was a really enjoyable day. Thank you to everyone who visited the BJ Crafts stand over the weekend, we hope you enjoyed the show & found lots to inspire you.

Last Friday, Sue & Lisa B were back in London. This time to demo at a PR event for Hochanda, alongside Katie Skilton Design, Sizzix & Barbara Grey of Clarity Stamps. Sue & Lisa taught the journalists & bloggers the joys of using Sparkle Medium, you can watch
the video on our Facebook page. More videos can be found on Hochanda's page.

The Hochanda Live! video is not the only thing you'll find on our FB page at the moment. This week, our page reached an astonishing 5140 likes & we're doing a little giveaway to celebrate. One lucky crafter who likes our page is going to win this selection of gorgeous goodies next Tuesday...........

In between everything I found some time to test out the new Mixed Media Ink Sprays & I have to say that I love them, the colours are just gorgeous & they blend beautifully. I gathered lots of pieces of white card, grabbed various bottles & started spraying.............

One handy tip; give the bottles a good shake before you spray. There's lots of colour pigment in the bottles & if they're standing upright for a while, some of that pigment will settle at the bottom. A good shake will mix everything together again.

You can dry the card with a heat tool, or just set it aside as I did. Drying time depends on how much ink is on the card - but remember; (handy hint no. 2!) if you think there's too much ink, take another piece of card & lay it on top. Press gently & remove. Hey presto, two backgrounds for the price of one. :)

Like many of you, I'm a fan of Eileen Godwin's work, I love how she uses colour & I wanted to make a couple of cards in her style..................

Inks used on these backgrounds; Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Dark Orange.

I used white gesso first through the Wheat Panel stencil on the ink sprayed backgrounds, then Light Copper Sparkle Medium on the card above & Blue Moonstone SM on the DL card.

The sentiment is from the Rose Elements stamp set, stamped with Onyx Black Versafine & heat embossed with clear embossing powder & I applied black gesso through the dots on the
Grunge Elements stencil on the DL card........

That's all from me for now. I hope to be back tomorrow with the first cards I've made with the wonderful new Art Stamps. Sue & Lisa are preparing for the next ODS on Hochanda, April 29 - 30 & we'll have more information on that in the coming week.
